Will the OEM refuse support if I use a GigaTech product?
No. System manufacturers cannot deny warranty or support simply because of third-party transceivers or cables — and official statements confirming this appear on numerous OEM websites.
The protection comes from the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act, passed by the FTC in 1975, defined in Section 2302, Subsection (c).
"No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumer's using, in connection with such product, any article or service … which is identified by brand, trade, or corporate name."
In short: unless the manufacturer supplies the accessory free of charge, it cannot restrict you to its own branded parts. The OEM isn't required to warrant the third-party item — that responsibility falls to the vendor who supplied it. At GigaTech, every product carries a Lifetime Warranty, with no extended contracts or service agreements to buy.

Straight from the manufacturers: third-party components do not void support.
"When a product fault or defect occurs … and Cisco concludes that the fault is not attributable to the use of third-party memory, cables, GBICs, filters, or other non-Cisco components … Cisco will continue to provide support for the affected product under warranty."
"Adding third-party items does not void the IBM warranty unless the third-party item causes the IBM machine to fail. If there is a warranty or service implication, you may be asked to remove the third-party item, or have the IBM machine inspected and qualified before IBM will proceed with the warranty service."
Juniper is not obligated to provide services for third-party devices not provided by Juniper; problems arising from such components; product installed by an unauthorized party; or incompatibility of the product with third-party devices.
The HP Limited Warranty does not extend to hardware damaged or rendered defective by parts or supplies not supplied by HP; HP is not responsible for interoperability or compatibility issues arising when unsupported products or options are used.
