NRZ

Non Return to Zero Modulation

NRZ stands for “Non Return to Zero” modulation, and describes an electrical or optical data channel where there are only two allowed amplitude levels (or symbols), with one amplitude level representing a digital ‘1’ and the other level representing a digital ‘0’. This is the predominate modulation scheme for transmitting data up to 25Gb/s, and is the simplest way to transmit digital data.
